Ottawa River Canoe Club

The inaugural Ottawa River 1-5-0 Paddle Challenge is set for this September 16th as part of the 2017 Waterway Series and in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. 

Come join the 150th celebration and paddle your heart out on the Ottawa river, our heritage waterway.

The Ottawa River Canoe Club is partnering with the Nepean Sailing Club to offer a day of paddling competition in the nation’s capital.

There will be a 5 km, 15 km and 30 km race course with events available for:

      • outrigger canoe (OC1 / OC2 / OC6)
      • surfski
      • recreational canoe
      • recreational kayak
      • SUP
      • North Canoe

The races will be followed by celebrations at the Nepean Sailing Club with great food and drink. All are welcome, and there is lots of viewing green space for spectators!



What is the Waterway Series?

The Waterway Series consists of 4 paddling competitions, with race distances of 2 km, 5 km, 15 km and 30 km, that are open to outrigger, surfski, standup paddleboard, kayak and canoe.

The Ottawa River Canoe Club is a not for profit organization with a mission of introducing and fostering recreational and competitive paddle sports and having fun doing so. We offer a variety of paddling programs including canoeing, kayaking and dragon boating for all age groups. Our programs are led by highly trained coaching staff. We have been in operation since 2002 serving West Ottawa and surrounding communities including Nepean, Kanata, and West Carleton.
