Introduction to Canoeing and Water Safety


 

Intended for the novice canoeist who wants to learn basic recreational (Canadian) canoe skills.

Setting: outside, please dress appropriately for weather and also bring a bathing suite, sunscreen, water.

Effort level: moderate, with few instances of relatively high intensity throughout the course.

Duration: 2.5-3 hours

Safety consideration

Equipment selection

Carrying a canoe

Enter & Exit Canoe, Balancing etc

Strokes and maneuvers

Managing wind and waves (basics)


All necessary equipment is provided by ORCC.

Please note our cancellation policy:

- 2 weeks prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund less a $15 non-refundable administration fee.

- less than 2 weeks to the start of the program will be issued a credit only. However, you can always reschedule for another session or receive full credit towards other programs.
