Intermediate Canoeing


 

Intended for the canoeist with some experience and mileage under the belt, this course will introduce new concepts to allow paddlers to become better technical paddlers as well as more adept at safe boat handling in less-than-ideal weather conditions. 

Course outline:

Advanced strokes and maneuvers

Managing wind and waves

Canoe-over-canoe rescue

Setting: outside, please dress appropriately for weather and also bring a bathing suite, sunscreen, water.

Canoe-over-canoe rescue training will require paddlers to immerse in water.

Effort level: moderate to high, with few instances of relatively high intensity throughout the course.

Duration: 2-3 hours

All necessary equipment is provided by ORCC.

Please note our cancellation policy:

- 2 weeks prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund less a $15 non-refundable administration fee.

- less than 2 weeks to the start of the program will be issued a credit only. However, you can always reschedule for another session or receive full credit towards other programs.
