U13 & U15  Fall Training

This fall evening program is designed for the paddler who has previous Regatta Ready or sprint experience.  The program offers a graduated program for children and teens to increase comfort in the boats and work together as a team to master paddling skills.

The focus of the fall training will be the continued development of paddling skills and technique for long term success in both singles and crew boats. The fall is a great time to continue working on all the skills learned during summer camps!

Cost:

  • $125.00
  • Mondays, Wednesdays (6-7:30pm)
  • Saturdays (9-11am)
  • This program is open to both members and non-members.
  • Note: Non-members can purchase a membership now that will be valid through the 2019 paddling season.

To accommodate busy schedules, this year there will be three training times throughout the week starting September 10th.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of practice to get equipment set up. Always bring running shoes and work-out gear to all practices.

Please note that the training hours might change with daylight so be prepared to adjust your schedule accordingly (30min).

All athletes must bring running shoes and athletic wear for either dryland or on-water training to each practice.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • Program registration cancellations which are received two weeks prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund less the $15 non-refundable administration fee.

t Canoe Kids Camps

Interested in learning about canoeing, kayaking or being in a war canoe? Love being on the water?

Canoe Kids camps provide an introduction to paddling, for children aged 8 years and up, including spring canoe, kayak, dragonboat, outrigger, and recreational canoe skills.

Campers learn introductory padding skills during this recreational program and no previous paddling experience is necessary. In addition, campers get plenty of opportunity to try out their favourite paddling sport during supervised free time – a favourite time of day during Canoe Kids camps

The activities are based outdoors including crafts, games, lunches and snacks, and a clubhouse is available for rainy day activities.

Weather permitting, each weekly session features at least 2 canoe day trips to spots along the Ottawa River

Campers enjoy assisting in hot meal preparation in the great outdoors at a pasta extravaganza – provided as part of day camp fees, courtesy of ORCC

Please note that all campers must have the equivalent swimming ability of the Lifesaving Society Swimmer 4 level. For more information on the Swimmer 4 swimming requirements please contact a City of Ottawa aquatics department.
