Intended for the kayaker that has previous paddling experience or has completed our introductory course, this low enrolment cap course focuses on improving and perfecting paddling technique and introduces the participants to sprint racing kayaks.
Learn more about various types of kayaks, racing kayaks, trimming, tuning and positioning in the boat. You will also learn to paddle more efficiently, and how to properly feather and brace to avoid capsizing. The instructor will also spend some time talking about equipment care.
Setting: outside, please dress appropriately for weather and also bring a bathing suit, sunscreen, water.
Effort level: moderate, with few instances of relatively high intensity throughout the course.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Participants completing this course will be ready to join our "masters" program to further develop their paddling technique, try crew boats and ?why not? prepare to compete in flatwater kayak races regionally and nationally under the ORCC umbrella.
