Fall Training - Intro to Competition (Sprint Canoe and Kayak)
This fall evening program (M.W. Sat) is designed for the paddler who is interested in advancing their paddling skills in sprint boats.  The program offers a graduated program for children and teens to increase comfort in sprint racing boats, build paddling fitness and focus on technique.

The focus of fall training will be to  continue to build a strong foundation for athletes to build off their summer paddling development and fine tune their paddling skills and technique. This is a great opportunity to build paddling endurance and to work on technical aspects of your strokes to take into next season and regatta's for next year.

Cost:

  • $135.00 for members or $155 for non-members
  • Mondays, Wednesdays (5:45-7:15pm) and Saturdays (9:30-11:30am)
  • This program is open to both members and non-members.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of practice to get equipment set up. Always bring running shoes and work-out gear to all practices.

All athletes must bring running shoes and athletic wear for either dryland or on-water training to each practice.

t Canoe Kids Camps

Interested in learning about canoeing, kayaking or being in a war canoe? Love being on the water?

Canoe Kids camps provide an introduction to paddling, for children aged 8 years and up, including spring canoe, kayak, dragonboat, outrigger, and recreational canoe skills.

Campers learn introductory padding skills during this recreational program and no previous paddling experience is necessary. In addition, campers get plenty of opportunity to try out their favourite paddling sport during supervised free time – a favourite time of day during Canoe Kids camps

The activities are based outdoors including crafts, games, lunches and snacks, and a clubhouse is available for rainy day activities.

Weather permitting, each weekly session features at least 2 canoe day trips to spots along the Ottawa River

Campers enjoy assisting in hot meal preparation in the great outdoors at a pasta extravaganza – provided as part of day camp fees, courtesy of ORCC

Please note that all campers must have the equivalent swimming ability of the Lifesaving Society Swimmer 4 level. For more information on the Swimmer 4 swimming requirements please contact a City of Ottawa aquatics department.
