Hell or High Water celebrates the rivers of the Ottawa Valley, offering something to see and do for the entire family, both on and off the water. There are vendors and displays at the Catwalk (Centennial Park), there are Voyageur Canoe rides down near the Petawawa Point; there are free boat and equipment demos, flat water paddling, And, to kick it off, the Reel Paddling Film Festival will be held at the Petawawa Civic Center on Friday, May 10 with the first film to begin at 8:00 PM.

This year, HOHW will be raising money for three charities close to the hearts of people here in the Ottawa Valley: Soldier On, Whitewater Ontario, and Pembroke Hospital's Image Matters (MRI) Campaign.

Dragonboat – May 11 10-4:30 – Join ORCC at this fun event! If you have a group who have wanted to give dragonboating a try, this is a great way to get your feet wet! Contact us at orcc@bell.net and we will help you field at team for HOHW.

Teams will assemble at Jubilee Lodge Marina (245 Givensche Rd). An experienced dragon boater will be assigned to each team to help guide you through the basics and get you on the water.

Friday evening will be strictly practice. Learn the strokes, get your timing down and get comfortable in the boat and with the format.

Saturday will be the actual races, with an expected three races per team. The course is approximately 200 metres long, and the experienced teams will cover that distance in a real hurry.

The HOHW event is purely for fun, so don’t worry about the details, and just come out and try a great new sport. Bring your mom!
