Competitive Outrigger Team

Are you ready to take your paddling to the next level? The Ottawa River Canoe Club (ORCC) Competitive Outrigger Team is a high-performance training group for paddlers looking to compete in outrigger canoe (OC) racing. Whether you're an experienced paddler or looking to transition from sprint kayak, dragon boat, or another paddling discipline, this team offers structured training, expert coaching, and exciting race opportunities.

Program Details

End Goal!

Create a competitive OC6 team with the goal of competing at local/ provincial events in 2025, and the ultimate goal of competing at the Queen Lili’uokalani race in Hawaii in 2026!

Training Fees

Option 1: Training with Masters (Coached)

  • $100 Membership Fee
  • Masters Fee of $600 or $750 depending on commitment level (part-time / full-time)
  • $350 OC6 Fee granting access to an OC6 twice per week at a time of your team's choosing subject to availability
  • Total: $1050 - $1200

Option 2: Training On Your Own

  • $100 Membership Fee
  • $350 OC6 Fee granting access to an OC6 twice per week at a time of your team's choosing subject to availability
  • $175 Big Boat Add-On
  • Total: $625

Training Schedule

Option #1:

  • Mon & Thurs: 6:15 - 8:00 PM
  • Wed & Fri: 6:15 - 8:00 AM
  • You can choose between 2 & 4 practices per week

Option #2:

OC6 Weekly Training

  • Two OC6 practices per week from May 26 to Oct 10 at a time of your choosing subject to availability.

  • Sept 13: Toronto International Outrigger Challenge TSCC - optional

Projected 2026 Events

  • MCC Open Water Challenge- early June (Mississauga, ON)
  • Wai Nui Why Not? Race- early August (Oakville, ON)
  • Queen Lili’uokalani race- end of August (Hawaii, USA)
